CAN SUPERFOOD SKINCARE HELP YOUR DETOX?

January. The month where, after a time of over indulging throughout the holidays, many of us turn our minds to our health. We start to think about what we eat, getting more exercise and looking after our bodies after possibly neglecting them a bit during the festive months.

At this point, many people opt to take part in a detox of one kind or another. Whether you choose a week of juicing, an elimination of processed sugars or decide to give alcohol a miss and adopt a period of dryness, there are many ways in which we can detox.

We have had many customers tell us that using rawgaia Superfood Skincare products during a detox has helped keep the skin in balance and avoided any outbreaks, which may occur as toxins escape your body.

It is fairly well acknowledged that consuming superfoods as part of your diet can be incredibly helpful in your detox efforts. By choosing to consume organic, whole superfoods for a period, we can encourage 'the removal of harmful chemicals, metabolic waste and other toxins from [y]our blood, tissue, organs and fat cells.’(1).

We agree with those that explain that the detoxification process is about ‘resting, cleansing and nourishing the body from the inside out’ and that ultimately, it is a fairly simple one with lots of options for what you can add to your diet that are easy to pick up such as lemons, avocados, garlic and beetroot (2).

But here at rawgaia, we also believe that you can harness these benefits via an outside in approach by using skincare products in order to help your skin remain healthy and nourished during your period of detox, a time where otherwise your skin might suffer as toxins leave your body through the epidermal layer.

Although nearly all our products are packed full of superfood ingredients, we thought we’d briefly just look at two of them and how they can be used alongside your detox today:

Goji Berries, the star of our Organic Goji Goddess Ritual are jam-packed with beta-carotene, a precursor of Vitamin A which is absolutely essential for healthy skin (3).

In addition to this, they have a ‘high polysaccharide and antioxidant content (which) helps to encourage collagen production and repair damaged tissue with moisturising effects that are useful for preventing dryness and wrinkling.’ (4)

Using our Organic Goji Goddess products during your detox is also an act of self nurture and love.

And our Organic Hemp Heaven range is particularly useful whilst you’re detoxing as the fatty acids in hemp oil are absolutely amazing at fighting blemishes and rehydrating dull, dry skin.

‘Due to its high content of omega 3 and omega 6 fatty acids, hemp oil has a composition similar to skin lipids, which makes it an excellent natural emollient and moisturiser.’. (5).

Having our Hemp Heaven products to hand whilst you detox is a surefire way to fight those escaping toxins that may blemish your skin.

So if you decide to detox this spring, or are on a detox right now, don’t forget to make sure you give your precious skin just as much attention as you’re giving to your internal organs. Don’t let those toxins seeping out lead to acne, blemishes or dry skin.

Instead, stock up on your favourite natural, organic rawgaia superfood skincare products and help keep your skin nourished, nurtured and looking fantastic whilst you start to feel fabulous from your dietary detox!
