Today we are going to take a little look at just one element of our popular organic superfood skincare rituals; the moisturiser component. Our skin often has a tendency to lose moisture and become dehydrated easily; exposure to pollution, our less than gentle British climes and over processed tap water all contribute to our skin becoming dry. Using a moisturiser is a brilliant way to help your skin rehydrate and stay healthy. As your skin cells absorb the product, they are refuelled and plumped up, leaving your skin fuller, fresher and full of moisture.
Luckily, at rawgaia we have a range of raw, organic superfood moisturisers as part of our skin type targeted skincare rituals designed to do just that thing! And as we don't use emulsifying wax in these products, there is no barrier between the product and your skin meaning that the nutrients are able to be absorbed quickly into your thirsty skin. Our range of moisturisers are packed full of superfood ingredients, specially selected for their ability to refuel your skin cells and refresh your skin, leaving it feeling soft and looking great!
Our Organic Hemp Heaven Moisturiser uses cacao butter and hemp oil, old favourites of the superfood world and renowned for their amazing skin reviving properties. According to Dr Axe, cacao butter 'makes an excellent skin moisturizer, plus it does more than just hydrate the skin — it helps actually heal it from the inside out too. It’s a great source of natural antioxidants that are found in cocoa beans’ (1). Hemp oil perfectly complements the cacao butter as it is rich in essential fatty acids, omega 3, 6 and 9, which work to nourish your skin as 'it has an EFA (essential fatty acid) profile that resembles our skin's lipids (fats) very closely' (2). Omega 3 has amazing anti-inflammatory benefits, omega 6 can provide a protective barrier for our skin to keep the moisture in and omega 9 'promotes healthy inflammation responses' (2). This moisturiser is as natural as it gets and is made with the absolute minimum amount of processing, ensuring that the maximum amount of nutrients in our carefully selected organic ingredients are retained and able to nurture your skin.
Our Organic Goji Goddess Beauty Balm, MSM Organic Beauty Cream and For Her Sons moisturiser all use jojoba oil as their primary vehicle for delivering hydration to your skin. Although we don't use emulsifying waxes per say, Jojoba Oil is technically classified as a liquid wax, not an oil. However, it is definitely worth using for the amazing benefits it brings to your skin. Jojoba oil is unique because it is very similar to sebum, the oily substance that our skin produces to keep our skin moist. It is the perfect ingredient to use for keeping our skin moisturised as it 'acts as a two-way barrier on the skin. It protects the skin from harsh environmental factors and also locks in moisture' (3). It also contains a high level of vitamin E, which is essential in protecting our skin against the free radicals that speed up aging. As well as helping to reduce signs of ageing, 'the linoleic acid and antioxidants present in jojoba oil help in regenerating the skin cells.' (4). You can see why we've chosen it as one of our primary moisturiser ingredients!
So don't let the winter winds and freezing temperatures wreck havoc on your skin during these cold months. Instead, invest in an organic, natural moisturiser jam packed with superfood ingredients and give your skin a much needed hydration boost!
